Lac Chateau Cavagnac On Fire by Kevin Nash
Nash Resorts Lac Chateau Cavagnac has opened to a mega start, in the last two weeks there has been no less than 7 40's and 5 50's to just under 60lbs. Kevin Nash told Anglers mail, "It has taken us three years to control the extensive weed growth but since we have cleared the weed out and the fish have got on the boilies they have steadily climbed in weight. I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by these reports as it looks like the carp have put on average 6-8lbs over the winter, one mirror jumping from 51lbs to 58lbs. If that statistic is mirrored across the stock you could be looking at at least 100 carp between 50lb and 70lbs and good only knows how many 40's.
When I first obtained the lake it was quite literally 50 acres of lilies. My first task was to clear these, this is when I learnt what a tough Mother Nature can be. By clearing the lilies we let light into the depths that triggered a weed explosion. Yes it is fair to say that for the first couple of years Cavagnac was a challenging lake suited to the specialist angler who was comfortable fishing in weed.

When we received this report Glyn Bond from Basildon was still fishing the lake on a 7-day session with FOUR DAYS to go. At the time of writing he had reported back a number of fish including 4 30s to 38lbs, plus an amazing braze of 50s, a Mirror of 51lb and a 52lb 6oz common. Glyn broke his PB as so many do at the lake, as you can imagine he is absolutely over the moon. Fishing his rods next to a bed of lilies at 100 yards, Glyn took all his fish on the ever faithful Scopex Squid Liver Ready made's. His terminal tackle consisted of a Nash Safety clip system to which he attached a Mantis Hook length and a super strong size 4 Fang X.

Garry Cox also had a right result catching a cracking brace of fish, a 51lb 4oz mirror and a 42lb mirror taking both fish on Nash Bait Bling.
Another angler to smash the 50-pound mark was Andy Ward. Andy had a cracking 52 lb 10oz mirror fishing at 60 yards range to a silt pocket.

The successful bait this time was Nash Bait Banana Boilies fished snowman style.
Alan Hickmott has also done exceptionally well during his trip to the lake. Alan caught a number of fish from a swim known as the Channel including an enormous 58lb 2 oz mirror.

The successful tactics included a bed of particles over which he fished Scopex Squid. The Cavagnac lump was tamed on a 3lb Hooligun rod and 15lb Bullet Mono, to complete his set-up he used a 3oz flat pear, 25lb Ultrasilk and a size 4 Wide Gape hook.
STOP PRESS:
Just as we went to press we have heard that Cavagnac has produced one of its huge commons well over 60lbs and to a lady angler!
