Jerry Hammond’s party - Friday 04/09/2009

The hot run of French weather continued through August as temperatures reached 36 degrees. As expected this took affect on the fishing, with few fish being landed during daylight hours, however the fish were still very much inclined to have a feed mainly at night and some good catches were reported.

The best hit of the week came from the 'Chateau Swim' where Nash sales rep Alan Price and friend Dave 'Diffusion' Picking landed a total of 31 carp. Alan bagged 22 fish consisting of 2 doubles 18 twenties and 2 thirties including a mirror of 37lb 8oz's and commons up to 34lb. Alan's successful tactics included double 20mm Mach 1 bottom baits fished on 10 inch Missing Link hooklinks and size 6 Fang Twister hooks. Rigs were placed by boat, fishing to sets of lilies at approximately 100 yards range.
The pair went through 40kg of bait during their weeks fishing as the run rate increased steadily throughout the week. Dave fished similar tactics and managed several good fish up to around the 30lb mark.

Meanwhile Ben Patridge managed 5 fish from the 'Field' swim topping low 30's whilst Mickey 'matches Evans and son Josh managed 3 fish each to mid 30's.

Although none of the real 'biggie's' made an appearance the proof is there that the lake is continuing to produce good hits of fish despite the less than ideal weather conditions and the fishing looks set to only get better as we enter the Autumn period which we all know never fails to throw up some 'BIG' surprises.
Until next time,
Be Lucky from all of us at Lac Chateau Cavagnac.
