CATCH REPORT - 26 June/3 July 2009
by Cavagnac Bailiff
Lac Chateau Cavagnac made for some very happy anglers last week with big fish being caught all over the lake as well as two of the most wanted residents making an appearance aswell .

Derek ……. Began his week fishing the Channel swim where he managed to hook but unfortunately not land any of his takes which obviously left him slightly frustrated. Not to be defeated Derek then decided on a move to The Ateps swim for the remaining three nights.
He decided to risk everything and put a bed of particle and Cavagnac special boilies down in the hope it would pay off come the end of the week……..and pay off it did. On the last night of his week long session he managed to land four fish, topped off with the ‘Big Common’ at 60lb 8oz, which made all the waiting worth while.
Mark Clarke from Birmingham also had a good week's fishing, taking 9 fish topped by an awesome 42lb 8oz common. This was Mark’s fourth visit to the lake in search of a 40lb common and was finally rewarded with one which he landed from the Boards swim as well as landing several other fish up to 39lb.
Gary Astill and Neil Simpson made their annual trip to Cavagnac and had a great week's ‘hauling’ landing a shed load of fish including mirrors of 46lb and 42lb as well as commons too - 38lb 12oz.
Fishing from the Fields swim their successful tactics consisting of Scopex Squid Liver boilies, as well as Cavagnac specials fished to the silty channels between lily beds with most of the rods being placed with the use of a baitboat.
Belgian duo Llily and Joris have been fishing Cavagnac for a few years now and returned for another session last week for a four night stint. Incredibly on their first night they got their tactics spot on and managed an incredible 13 fish in just one night including a 42lb mirror and the famous ‘Single Scale‘ at an incredible 63lbs.
They then went onto catch 6 fish the following night and a further 5 before they left for the long journey home. An incredible four nights' angling by any standard .
They fished a combination of Nash Scopex Boilies aswell as Monster Pursuit bait which they prepared and rolled themselves on the bank.
They also used their bait boat in order to place rigs and caught fish from the middle of the lake in open water as well as several from the margins in shallow bays during the day.
Most of their fish fell to popped up baits , and were fished in conjunction with Nash Diffusion Camo weed safety bolt beads and long Nash Core Plus Leadcore leaders. On the whole a truly magnificent weeks angling at Cavagnac and long may it continue into the coming summer months.
