What Weed?
by Kevin Nash
Sometimes I notice on the various chat rooms and whatever, anglers talking about Cavagnac saying that they have heard the lake is weed choked.

When I first obtained the lake it was quite literally 50 acres of lilies. My first task was to clear these, this is when I learnt what a tough Mother Nature can be. By clearing the lilies we let light into the depths that triggered a weed explosion. Yes it is fair to say that for the first couple of years Cavagnac was a challenging lake suited to the specialist angler who was comfortable fishing in weed.
However since we have worked our plums off to control the weed and that is exactly what we have done. I would never say the lake is entirely weed free. This is because I wouldn’t want that situation of just a mud hole in the ground. What we have achieved at Cavagnac is a lake that is mainly weed free accepting the odd patches of bottom weed that we have left as features/hotspots and lilies fringing the lake.
I can assure any angler visiting Cavagnac that the majority of the water in front of them is clear enabling them to cast, bait, and land fish from the bank.
