Q.
Can you tell me the baggage weight restrictions and details of the
Sporting Luggage deal if I want to take my own gear?
The restriction on check-in baggage is 15 kilos and each bag (up to the limit of 15kg total) must be paid for at £24 per bag, that’s if you pay at the time of reserving your flights. If you wait until you are at the airport they will charge you more.
To clarify, if you have three bags (total weight not exceeding 15 kilos) you would have to pay £88 for your check-in baggage. Everything in one bag and it would be £24.
Excess weight is charged at £12 per kilo. Individual items exceeding 32 kilos and/or 81 x 119 x 119cms will not be accepted.
Hand luggage is free, restricted to ten kilos and must not measure more than 45 x 35 x 16cms.
If you are thinking of taking your own rods, gear, bait etc., the cheapest way is to utilise the Sports Equipment baggage option provided by Ryanair. The cost is £40 per item but with the same restriction on weight and size as check-in baggage – ie. 32 kilo and 81 x 119 x 199cms limit. This is per flight sector so for a return trip you would pay £80.
This has to be pre-booked with Ryanair. Tel: 0871 246 0000
Q.
Can I charge up my mobile phone?
Yes, just ask the bailiff. There are chargers at the lodge but it would be a good idea to take your own in order to ensure accessibility.
Q.
Are towels provided for the showers?
No, you should take your own towel.
Q.
Is any form of lighting provided?
No, there is no lighting. We suggest you take a head torch for hauling large carp at night!
Q.
Can I buy gas canisters, for a Coleman stove, at the Lake Shop?
No, you will not need them. On arrival you will be given a free ‘brew pack.’ This comprises tea, coffee, sugar, milk, water, a stove and fuel. Extra fuel can be obtained, if needed.
Q.
When is the best time to go to Lac Cavagnac?
Q.
How are swims chosen?
By a draw, using playing cards, on arrival at the lake. Ace is low! We have found that this is the fairest way of doing it.
Q.
How big is Lac Chateau Cavagnac?
The lake is 48 acres.
Q.
Can I fish wherever I want on the lake?
There are 17 double swims and various areas of bank where you can fish between swims stalking fish etc. Some parts of the lake however are private farmland so fishing off swims in these areas is not permitted.
If you are fishing as a pair you can fish any of the swims. If you are a fishing alone you will not be able to fish waterlocked swims (platforms surrounded by water.) This rule is in place due to insurance reasons and for your safety. The waterlocked swims are : Nash Bay, Dead Tree, Kingfisher, Chateau, Meadows Point, Sanctuary and the Shallows.
